Code of Conduct
-
- Integrity and Ethical Behavior – We commit to upholding the Unity Bridge mission, vision, and values. We foster a safe, accountable, and empowering community. We commit to communicate with honesty, transparency, and kindness; taking personal accountability for our words, actions, and their impact. We strive for non-harm across the physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic safety of all members. We practice clear, ongoing consent as we engage with participants. We maintain conscious awareness of our roles and responsibilities, honoring appropriate boundaries and staying within our scope of practice, ensuring the safety and integrity of the container. We respect and support the agency and dignity of each participant. We disclose the risks of physical, psychological, and spiritual risks to participants for informed decision-making. We make efforts to screen participants for appropriate fit, and provide resources for preparation and integration. We offer support and access to resources if participants encounter spiritual emergencies.
- Commitment to Growth and Self-Care – We embrace continuous learning, self-improvement, and the integration of wisdom into practice. We commit to engaging with practices that keep us evolving on our personal growth journeys and to utilize mentors and therapists that offer healthy reflection to support our growth. We take holistic responsibility for our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness, engaging in practices that sustain resilience and ongoing growth within a supportive accountability structure. We will remain attentive to signs of personal imbalance, such as anxiety, dissociation, sleep issues, or emotional dysregulation, and to pause facilitation if necessary.
- Respect and Inclusivity – We foster a culture of respect, open-mindedness, and inclusivity, honoring diverse perspectives and experiences. We do not withhold offerings or offer preferential treatment based on social identity or status. We reserve the right to refuse service if we feel it is not in the best interest of the participant, greater community, or out of our scope of practice.
- Confidentiality and Privacy – We honor the privacy of our participants by informing them of our confidentiality policy and adhering to it. In general, we preserve the names, experiences, and images of participants as private and obtain consent before sharing any personally-identifiable information. We recognize certain limits to confidentiality in order to prevent harm, and will inform participants if confidentiality may need to be broken.
- Professional and Appropriate Conduct – We navigate overlapping romantic, sexual, and dual relationships with great care, prioritizing ethical integrity and community safety. Dual relationships of any kind must be carefully managed to maintain clear, ethical boundaries. If a participant in a Unity Bridge offering is also a preexisting romantic or sexual partner of a facilitator, we commit to having a conversation with them about dual-roles and power dynamics. We agree to disclose any intimate connections with participants to one or more members of the Unity Bridge leadership team. We agree to collaborate with leadership on an appropriate course of action, which may potentially include, having a cool-off period or transitioning facilitation to another instructor. We agree not to engage in a pattern of dating Unity Bridge participants. We are also expected to stay within our professional scope, avoiding personal, medical, or therapeutic advice outside our training and making appropriate referrals when needed.
- Roles – Unity Bridge has two practitioner designations: Facilitator and Assistant-Facilitator. These roles are awarded upon completion of the Unity Bridge program at the discretion of the leadership team. They are ongoingly contingent upon holding good standing with the Unity Bridge community and this code of conduct. Facilitators have the blessing to lead retreats within the Unity Bridge community. Assistant-Facilitators have the blessing to assist in retreats. Assistant-Facilitators can continue their learning to eventually become a Facilitator at the discretion of the Unity Bridge leadership team.
- Conflict Resolution and Communication – We provide a pathway for accessible grievance reports. We show up for conflict resolution. In navigating conflict, we abide by the direction and requests of the Unity Bridge leadership team. We recognize and avoid disempowering relational patterns, such as the Victim-Rescuer-Persecutor dynamic, and practice conscious, compassionate communication.
- Business Practices and Promotions – We do not exploit participants to further our own interests. Nor do we unduly solicit or proselytize the Unity Bridge modality. We act with honesty and transparency in our business practices with clear agreements, scope of work, and finances. We may offer scholarships, work-trades, or discounts, but do not use them to coerce participant’s behavior. We may share minimal tasteful reference to aligned non-Unity Bridge offerings during official events. We encourage cross pollination and honor the overlap of facilitators offering many modalities. We do not pressure participants into future commitments or monetary decisions, particularly when they are in proximity to expanded states of consciousness or strong facilitator/participant power roles.
